Titanium is a chemical element with the symbol Ti and atomic number 22. It has a low density and is a strong, lustrous finish.

Titanium, which weighs almost half the weight of most carbon steels.  It can be strengthened by alloying it with other elements and titanium is also non-magnetic.

Titanium is non-toxic and has the ability to passivate making it corrosion resistant.  Ultimately, titanium and its alloys are used in a wide variety of aerospace, structural, chemical, petrochemical, marine, biomaterial and jewelry applications.

Titanium is widely distributed in a non-metallic form.  The main cost of titanium comes from processing the ore to produce the pure (or alloyed) metal.  Increasingly, due to demand, there have been great efforts to reduce the cost and hopefully use titanium in cars (even modestly priced cars).  Once this happens, you have a rust free material, that is strong, lightweight and has many other great properties.

Currently there are many plans to increase titanium production and the first company to successfully  do this will have significant advantages over the current high cost of production.

Titanium Properties:

  • A titanium ring is durable and lightweight
  • Titanium is corrosion resistant
  • Titanium is immune to salt water corrosion
